The Knoll Visual Story - Sean Chess Photography

Hidden in plain sight above Lincoln City Oregon is this amazing gem of a hike.

For the short hike that it is, this spot is well worth the reward. Although, the trail head can be tricky to find (However there are multiple).

I personally prefer the trail head at the end of Sal La Sea Dr, though it does cross through private property.

Nestled just above Roads End, this is the perfect quick hike to experience a coastal sunset. I consider this spot the little sister to Cascade Head!

If coast views aren't what you're after, then maybe beautiful lush fern filled forests are!

If you continue on up and past the trail that leads to The Knoll lookout, you will find yourself in what seems to be an enchanted forest.

And in the right evening light, the place will feel like magic!

But the real prize of the Knoll is watching the sun set over this beautiful little coastal town!

If you're lucky, and the weather and temps are just right, you will be able to see the fog roll in over the town while you sit above it.

But be prepared, the fog can roll in fast and rise fast, leaving you with no view at all and in the cold!

Whatever your preference, this spot will deliver! The best seat in the house is calling your name!

PROS:

Amazing coastal views!

Easy/Moderate hike with a few trail options

Completely free!

CONS:

Some trails go through private property (briefly)

Can have crowds on weekends and in Summer

Although a few, trail heads can be hard to find/limited parking
