Tucked away on the very South Eastern edge of Oregon, is a place that might make you feel like you're walking on Mars!

Welcome to Leslie Gulch (Slocum Creek)!

If you can handle an almost 10 hour drive from the Oregon Coast (2 hours from Boise Idaho), and a long hour drive on a dirt road, you will find yourself in this incredible spot.

Jordan Valley is the "home base" for this location, with gas stations and a few cafe's only 1.5 hours away from Leslie Gulch.

While it is a long dirt road drive to the campground, it's absolutely worth it, with plenty of spots to stop and grab pictures of unique perspectives.

The campground (Slocum Creek Campground) is great! 11 sites each with a small pavilion, picnic table, and pre-made fire pit. Along with a restroom!

What more could you ask for in the middle of nowhere?

While Leslie Gulch is considered desert, and can get extremely hot and dry in the summer, less than 1/4 a mile down the road is the gulch itself! A perfect place to float the river, or fish.

While it's not the prettiest looking water, usually mostly brown, it's perfectly safe to swim in and escape the heat. Or kayak too!

Disclaimer: The water level gets very low in summer, and the water temp rises (feels like bath water) but still refreshing.

When the sun is lower in the sky, that's the perfect time to go exploring the gulch, with plenty of hikes in the

area and spots along the dirt road to get epic photos!

Then, back at camp for relaxing incredible views, good drinks, and good company!

No matter where you set up your tent here, you're going to have a unique outstanding view.

Due to the fire bans, we opted for an early night, which means an early morning, which means coffee!

Arguably one of the most incredible places in Oregon, Leslie Gulch will make you feel like you're on another planet.

If you can handle the summer heat and remoteness, then this is the camping spot for you!

PROS:

Completely remote, away from all the noise!

Insanely beautiful at every turn.

A well kept campground with amenities (Toilet, Shelter, Table).

Plenty of hikes, and swimming.

The campground is free. First come first serve.

CONS:

Zero cell service (though some say that's a plus).

No water (to drink or clean with). Bring plenty of your own!

Insanely hot and dry in the summer (no campfires).

The long dirt road is rough, have good/spare tires.

Limited campsites (13), and only 9 with a covered shelter.
