A considerably short hike to some amazing views, this is Coffin Mountain!

Now, when I say short hike, I mean 2.5 miles in total, with roughly 1000ft elevation gain.
But with a steady slow incline throughout, it's a great family hike as well.

The hike starts going up with few switchbacks in the woods, before quickly opening up to wide 180 degree views of the Cascade mountain range.
Before you know it, you'll begin to see the top of Coffin Mountain, but don't let it scare you.

Soon you'll see the fire lookout in the distance, that's your destination!

Once you're at the top, you'll be graced with an insanely gorgeous 360 degree view!

On a clear day, you can see Mount Hood all the way down to the Three Sisters.
While the fire lookout can be closed during the cold season, there is still plenty of space to walk around and relax up top. Including a raised Heli-pad.

Although this hike would be great for any time of day, we opted in for sunset. My personal favorite time. Which meant we had the top to ourselves!

We stayed up until the last bit of light, and hiked down in the dark. Worth it.

I'm always in awe of the views out here. It's hard to put it into words, and photos don't do it justice.
Trust me, you've got to see this hike for yourself!

PROS:
Free Hike!
Not too strenuous, and easy to access.
Incredible 360 degree views.
CONS:
Like most hikes, it can get crowded (Weekends).
The drive to the trailhead is a bit out of the way.
Weather can be wild wide open at the top. Cold, windy, etc.
