Abstract And Celebration
One of Eastern Oregon's best kept secrets is the Alvord Desert. An old dried up lake bed spanning 8 miles wide and 12 miles long.
If the playa is dry, and you can brave the possible wind storms, then set up camp and enjoy the wide open and intensely quiet space that surrounds you!
After the sun goes down and the scorching heat disappears, it's all fun and games!
Surrounding the Alvord Desert are the incredible Steens Mountain range.
The top of the Steens is the perfect place for a day hike and to escape the desert heat!
A quick swim after a rough hike down to Wildhorse Lake will cool you down in a hurry!
When the sun starts to set, the magic happens!
This place is too amazing for words, and photos for that matter. Come visit it to see for yourself!
